India is a country of different colours and Tajmahal is the product of its rich heritage and culture of medieval period. Situated near the bank of Yamuna , the architecture symbolizes triumph of heart over mind. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shajahan during golden period of Mughal Empire in memory of his beloved and wife Mumtaj Mahal. It was constructed after the death of the Queen of India during Childbirth whiles her husband away from her controlling the rebellion. Taj Mahal is the result of four promises made by The Emperor to his soul mate. The body of the Queen was buried under the dome built inside the palace.
Taj Mahal was built on the acquired land of Raja Jai Singh and taken 22 years for the compellation of the whole monument. Twenty thousand laborers worked for 20 years from day to night. It is said that the hands of the masons, who shaped the main architecture, were cut off by the order of the Emperor so that none could build the similar palace again. The materials were brought from all over the world and Iranian national Ustad Isa was the principle architect of the mausoleum.
The main structure is made of White marble, brought from the Rajasthan. Other side of the building is built of red sandstone. The ever green beauty of the monument of love becomes double on full moon night when the magnificent architecture is reflected on water of Yamuna, flowing nearby the palace. In 1983, it was included in UNESCO’S world heritage site The Taj Mahal is combination of different designs, ideas taken from various structures such as Humayun Tomb and Jama Masjid in Delhi.
Outside of the palace, the tomb is surrounded by the spectacular 300 meter Charbagh or Mughal garden. The marble water tank is situated in the middle of the garden and surrounded with trees and fountains. Most of the flora compromises roses, daffodils and fruit trees. The main design of the garden is very different from the other Mughal gardens such as Shalimar garden in Jammu & Kashmir.
